On the last day of the old year and first day of the new, Holy Mother Church grants plenary indulgences, if the usual conditions are met. On December 31, a plenary indulgence can be obtained by the solemn recitation or chant of the

in thanksgiving for the blessings of God during the year. On January 1, a plenary indulgence can be obtained by the solemn recitation or chant of the
Veni Creator Spiritus (click here)
. The prayers will be said at the Masses on these days.
