All they from Saba shall come, bringing gold and frankincense and showing forth praise to the Lord.
This year, there will be a special blessing of gold, frankincense, and myrrh following the 7 p.m. High Mass on Epiphany. This is an in-person blessing. If you would like to participate in this blessing, please bring your items on January 6 and hold on to them during the blessing. DO NOT drop them off.
The blessing stems from the gifts presented to Our Lord by the 3 Magi. The special blessing, which includes an exorcism, makes the objects sacramentals that protect against the snares of the devil and also bring about benefits, both spiritual and physical, to those who piously use them.
The faithful may bring gold jewelry and items made of gold; the myrrh may be used as a healing ointment; the incense may be used in Church or at home, and fittingly, it may also be used to bless a home.
