2024 World Day of Grandparents & Elderly Transferred
In 2021, Pope Francis instituted a World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly to be held on the fourth Sunday in July, the Sunday closest to the feast of St. Anne, grandmother of Our Lord. The Church will celebrate the Fourth World Day on July 28, 2024. However, in the United States, the USCCB approved its transfer to the first weekend after Labor Day to coincide with National Grandparents Day in September.
The faithful are encouraged to participate in the solemn celebration at the Vatican or at various functions throughout the world and to devote time to visit, in person or virtually, the elderly in need or difficulty (the sick, the abandoned, the disabled, etc.).
The theme for the 2024 celebration is “Do not cast me off in my old age.”
