Sunday, July 24 is the second World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, a day set aside to encourage those in their later years to see they have much yet to offer the world and for the younger to appreciate their many gifts to the world and the Church.
On this day, a plenary indulgence may be gained, provided the usual conditions are met (click here for these conditions) by visiting an elderly person, attending the solemn commemoration of this day by Pope Francis or at celebrations around the world. Those who are homebound or unable to leave their homes may also gain the indulgence by uniting spiritually with the services being offered on that day.
