WHEN & WHERE
The Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary takes place on a specific day, but the preparatory exercise is for 33 days, one day for each year our Lord spent on earth with Mary. The exercise and initial consecration is held by the parish twice a year. Renewals of past consecrations are made on the anniversary date of the initial consecration.
The spring preparatory exercise begins Feb. 20 and ends Mar. 25, the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Consecration prayer will be recited after each Mass on March 25.
Our fall preparatory exercise begins Nov. 5 and ends Dec. 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Consecration prayer will be recited after each Mass on December 8.
WHAT IS TOTAL CONSECRATION?
Total Consecration is the complete giving of oneself to Jesus through Mary in imitation of Our Lord. Our Lady was at the center of our Lord's life and St. Louis Maria De Montfort therefore calls this consecration a true devotion to Mary.
The disposition necessary for the consecration is humility. It is a state whereby one sees everything as a special gift from God. St. Louis De Montfort calls it a state of Holy Slavery.
TO GET STARTED
For an overview of the Consecration, read "Introduction to Total Consecration". To prepare for the consecration, read/study two books written by De Montfort: “Secret of Mary” and “True Devotion to Mary”.
